My last trip to Toronto was a nightmare with the airline – delayed luggage, missing items, cancelled flight and incorrect ticketing.
Within 6 days, I am suppose to receive a big handsome cheque for reimbursing the lost items and also for the rental cost incurred as part of delayed luggage. Airline put me at a hotel for the cancelled flight and also gave me first class tickets back home.
I paid for the trip through miles too. Guess not so bad after all.

There is a common phrase people in the age of 60s in Shanghai say “a person’s life up to 50 is lived for others (working for jobs, working to pay tax etc), a life up to 70 is for Jesus as He can call you any time, and 80/90, you are no different from dead or alive”. I don’t know how this got started, but I’ve heard it from my parents.
So what’s so intriguing is that religion in China isn’t so foregin, I think the more a country is tight on free speech and religion the more awareness people have. Above statement is bothersome at few levels. One, so people know Christians believe and they go to Heaven. People seem to aware of that, but they don’t make it personal. Almost seems as, oh well life is ending, who cares if we go to heaven or hell, we lived and it’s good enough. Second, religion is always the ‘other’ person thing – oh yeah, my friends believe, good for them. I will support you but don’t bother me. Third, religion is a tool for life, to get through hardships and to moral restration yourself.
I thought people want to live as long as they can. Or has chinese people just so realistic that they embraced it and living up to it?

When your fork and other untensils are made of corn, don’t give it to Mike. The first time I came across this was at least 15 years ago from my Dad’s business of researching compost takeout boxes (yes, that was long before the whole green fad kicked in). But it was very much still in the research lab and haven’t been materialized to the general public.
The first time I saw it being used by the mass is at Google. I was very tempted to chew on it, but I was interviewing and didn’t want to be stupid fool in front of the interviewer.
Microsoft recently just introduced them. Here I go…
