It’s pretty surprising to see how many of us (including myself) hold on to the comfort the known but mediocrity, than to welcome change and start living. Changes are scary and takes effort, they are not easy. I think one of the misconception is that changes are complicated, but it’s not. It’s actually pretty simple.
Being the logical/analytical being (me) – I like to do pros/cons. Here are few things I can think of when thinking about changing to start living.
- All-in/All-out life style brings excitement and newness
- Get to experience life for all it has (love, joy, happiness, sorrows, disappointments etc)
- Experience the high of highs, and learn to avoid the low of lows
- More of everything that we truly desire deep inside
- Taking control of things that I have control over, instead of letting fate takes the steering wheel
All these involves, making a decision to change. It’s foreign and takes courage. But I think a lot of us fail to make that step is because how much fear we associate with change. So we rather succumb to this fear, and to give up all of the above, so that we can be comfortable. Perhaps, we wish that we can reap the above without sowing the seed. That is quite frankly, a wishful thinking. What I am about to say may be controversial, but I thrive on controversies, so here it is: Praying to God will not get you these things if you are not willing to do something about it. You can’t just pray your way out of something, if you acted your way into it.
One of my favorite quote is this – “Courage is not the absent of fear, but knowing that there is more important things than fearing”
1. Take courage. Take the first step. Make a commitment.
2. Willing to let go of what you have so that you can receive something better.
3. Find true self and find your purpose
So would you rather survive? or live? If it is to live, when will you start?
Personally for me, this is a daily decision, and it is an intentional one. I have a tendency to slip back into the old self when I am not on the ball.
