Churches should be the best organizations in the city, right? I mean, everyone in it all have the same value and same mission (something that the marketplace organizations struggle to get people to buy in). It’s no rocket science. All marketplace organizations should be coming to churches to seek strategies, advices and learn their system to lead the companies. But the reality is that, it’s hardly the best. Quite the opposite in many cases. Churches are going into the marketplace to seek wisdom instead of the other way around.
Why is this? Why is it that almost tolerable for church organizations not to have leadership excellence, hiring the best candidates, run the most well-oiled system etc?
I wonder if it’s our misaligned perspective. I’ve heard someone commenting on some churches that has a great marketing campaigns that they must be revenue oriented and their value must be misplaced. To this day, it still baffles me as why is that any time the church adopts practices that marketplace organizations use, it is seen with a negative light. Perhaps, the word marketplace is synonym to $. But should it be?
